We are proud to possess the traditional boilermaking techniques, and equipment required to build, maintain and repair almost any locomotive type boiler. This includes:

• Hot riveting
• Caulking and Fullering
• Tube removal and replacement, including beading
• Steel and copper stay removal and replacement (stays made in house on our CNC lathe)
• In house coded welding, working to ISO9606-1 and ASME1X for both steel and copper pressure vessel welding in all positions
• Recutting of seats for fusible plugs
• Retapping of washout plugs
• Fitment of both steel and copper patch screws (also made in house on our CNC lathe)
• Manufacture of new mudhole doors

Not only do we have a wide range of pneumatic tools for riveting and caulking, including hammering holding up tools and rivet busters, but we also have a large hydraulic rivet squeezer, designed and built in house specifically for the job with a 48” throat and 60 ton capacity.

We are currently undertaking the in situ replacement of the thermic syphons on 35028 “Clan Line,” something that has not been attempted since BR days, along with the replacement of around 500-600 side stays.
